Rationale for Capturing Process Times

Background

TOT's internal system captures the start and stop times for each production process

This can be visually represented as per below.

 

Whilst useful, this level of information doesn't capture the full picture.

For example, it doesn't tell you

 

·        How long it took to set up the job on the machine

·        Who checked the set up and signed it off as checked?

·        How long the production run takes

 

If we think about it a bit more, each production process has two “phases”

The setup phase is always first, and once completed, the production phase immediately starts.

In other words, production phase cannot begin unless the setup/checking phase has finished – the two are linked.

What the reason for capturing the data at this level of detail ?
