Retrieving Pallets of Stock from Storage Bays
When retrieving a pallet of stock from a location bay (ground
or upper level) for picking purposes:-
- Ensure the pallet is removed
from the storage bay and physically relocated
into a designated working area.
Do not leave the pallet in the aisles or at the
end of the aisles as causes obstructions.
- Stock should therefore
be picked within the designated working areas.
The exception to this is where you are performing
small quantity picks that do not require the pallet to be removed from
the bay, and therefore can be picked in situ.
Putting away
- At the end of the pick, condense,
consolidate and re box &
relabel as necessary.
- If the stock
retrieved from upper bays,
do not automatically assume it should be placed back
there.
- Given that the stock has actively been requested by the client,
consider whether it is "live"
- i.e. for a current tour - and if
so, it should be physically put
away in easier to access bays.
- If there is certainty
that the stock is "dead",
it can be considered as eligible
to be put away in higher bays.
However, this should be concluded based on experience.
- When putting away pallets in upper bays - ensure there are sufficient Hi Bay Category labels
attached and facing out into the aisle.
- Best practice: If all the stock is in proof when putting away,
process the location checked function
to update the checked status and the date of checking and checked
