Using Weighing Machine

 

Overview

TOT has electronic scales that can be used for weighing / counting items. This topic provides a basic overview of how to use the equipment.

Positioning the Scales

  1. The scales need to be positioned on a flat level surface
  2. There is a bubble / level indicator in the bottom left of the panel - ensure this is in the centre to confirm the scales are positioned correctly.
  3. There are four legs under the machine that can be adjusted up/down to level the machine

 

Powering on

The power switch is underneath on the right hand side.

 

Zeroing

Before weighing or counting anything, the scales need to be zeroed. This is done by pressing the Zero button on the panel. The weight LCD panel should read zero.

Basic Weighing

Once zeroed, placing items) onto the centre of the weighing plate will show the result in the weight LCD panel.

 

Counting

The scales can be used to accurate counts items placed on it.
Follow these steps

 

  1. Zero the scales.
  2. Place a known quantity of the same items onto the scales (see note)
  3. Enter the number of items using the number keys and click the Sample button.
  4. The unit weight LCD panel will display the weight of one item.
  5. Key in the displayed unit weight using the number keys and then press UWT button to store it.
  6. Remove the items.
  7. When you now add an unknown quantity of items onto the weighing plate, the Count LCD panel will show the item count.

 

Note

Using a higher number of items  for the sample quantity results in a more accurate calculation of unit weight.
