Measuring and Recording Bay Height
Background & Rationale
TOT
follows the random stock keeping approach. Stock is stored in any
location provided there is sufficient space.
In
order to efficiently follow the principle, having knowledge of the height
of a bay is key as it enables users to search for bays with a specific
height.
Strokeone
provides the capability to record a bay's height.
Best
working practice is to populate this as much as possible - particularly
for ground level bays which have the greatest activity.
Process
- Select a bay and measure its height using the TOT
Pallet Height Guide Ruler

Important: You
need to consider some clearance for pallets / boxes to be moved in/out
, and the height of the pallet pump truck so do not measure right to the
top of the bay. This height
should be included in the pallet size guide ruler for the warehouse zone.
- From Ipad dashboard > Location
Check

- Touch View to activate
the camera; and scan the location's barcode. Srokeone
will return the location record. Enter the corresponding pallet guide
ruler value that in the Height
field

- Tip: If you have measured
the height of one bay in a row (horizontal) - it is extremely
likely that all the other bays in the same row are identical height.
Assuming this is the case, click find
and enter the first four digits of the location Id, then "*",
then the shelf numeric (e.g, for above D-18*1)
and click find again

- Strokeone will return all locations that match the criteria - i.e.
for this example, all the ground level bays in Aisle D18. You can
then enter the height for each of the bays
