Handling charges should be applied to decorated items in the following circumstances
Important: TOT charges a minimum of 15 mins for Handling Charges
Goods In
If you are processing decorated stock in - and it is a simple delivery
(i.e. well organised, well documented, and clearly labelled) and can be
confidence counted within a 15 min window, then 15 mins charge is appropriate
Where the delivery is badly organised, has poor documentation, not properly separated into consolidated styles / SKUs confidence counting will take more time and therefore you need to accurately record how long you spend processing it and capture this time in Handling Charges
Bear in mind if more than one person is involved in checking / counting the delivery, then the handling charge time should be the total combined time spent on it.
You should use the paperwork that accompanied the delivery to keep notes of what you did to process the delivery - and upload this annotated paperwork as Post Check image so that the client can see this information via cport.
Bear in mind the types of items you are checking and the client who they belong to. If the items you are looking at are low value - it is less likely that the client will feel it worth incurring significant processing costs. If in any doubt, refer to an experienced colleague or contact the client to discuss. They may opt to have the delivery booked in as a homogenous outer
Fulfilments
Picking
Again a good rule of thumb is that a minimum of 15 mins handling charge should be applied to any fulfilment that it not picked from a production run.
If the pick is very straight forward - for example, a simple relocation of the whole contents of a storage bay, and took under 15 mins, then record 10 mins as the charge
If the pick was complicated, requiring multiple locations etc, then the quantity of time spent should be recorded
If the pick was done from production stock - Handling Fees should not be applied.
Packaging
Again, charges should be appropriate
For very simple picks the Handling Charge will have been recorded as 10 mins. Provided administering the assembling is quick - increase this to 15 mins
Where assembling the despatch takes more time - for example, reboxing, splitting, and more administration then the length of time spent on it should be added to the existing Handling charge
For example if the picking person recorded 10 mins as handling charge for picking, but it took you 30mins to box, assemble and produce labels - increase the total duration of Handling charges to 40mins
If there are no picking handling charges recorded - confirm with the person who picked the stock that it came from a production run
If it did, then no handling charges is valid
If it did not, then they should have recorded handling charges, and you should increase the time duration charged to include the boxing up / assembly time
