Gather Boxes |
Looking at the process line and the To Be Given figure, you can get a reasonable idea of how many boxes will be needed to box the run. You should gather these in preparation |
Get Complete Location Barcode |
You’ll need a “complete_#” location barcode - e.g. |
Ipad |
You will need this for barcode scanning |
Marker Pen |
You’ll be using a marker pen to annotate a unique number on each box you use. |
Fulfilment Picking sheet |
You will need this to record which items you place in each box. See below for how to output this. |
As the garments are completed, fold and place in a box. Best practice is to group garments by size, colour, and design and box these together wherever possible. In the case of high volumes It is also more efficient to use a common size box for the whole job and place a consistent number (by size) into each box.
i.e. if 80 small will fit into a box place 80 Small into every box apart from any balance less than 80. these can going into the last box of Smalls and be labelled accordingly. It may be that the balance can be combined with the smaller balances of other sizes. If 80 Medium also fit in the box chosen and repeat the above. If the box will only hold 70 Large place 70 Large in each box and so on and so forth
Keep a count of QTY and size of garments you are placing in a box and once the box is full, use the marker pen to write on the end of the box the Qty and Size of the garments it contains.
Keep a running tally of how many you are placing in each box – something like the following.
Place each full box onto the completed area (trolley or pallet that has the completed barcode attached) – with the end that you have physically marked up pointing outward so that it is visible.
Data entry is performed as per normal – that is you record the quantities successfully processed as well as the quantities of each garment size that have been successfully produced as well as any rejects.
Exercise care when doing the data entry to ensure the numbers are in proof – committing the produced numbers should in most cases result in a zero or positive available balance – refer to senior staff if you are unsure.
Crucially when you come to commit the data entry – whether it is full or partial you will be asked where to book the stock into a location – and here you select the “Complete” location that is attached to the pallet/trolley.
Tip: If you do the data entry via ipad layouts you can select the barcode icon in the location picker
and use the camera to scan the complete location barcode that you have selected.
Now that you have credited strokeone with the Qty’s produced – you need to create SKU box end labels that can be placed on each box to show what is contained within it.
To do this is very straightforward - as you have booked in the produced goods to the complete location – so we can use that location as the reference point.
On your ipad select Stock Check Location Check in dashboard
This will open stock check layout.
Select View in Device Camera
Scan the Complete_# location barcode to return its contents (or alternatively, manually find the location in the picker)
You can now create the box end barcode labels. To do so, referring to the boxing up sheet / or the marked-up boxes, click Select for each required SKU and then New Box End label from Selection to bring those SKU records into the lower pane.
Note: the quantity of SKU that is printed on to the box end label will match the box end label generator. Adding a selected SKU will default with the quantity in that location. This is efficient for those jobs where the total quantity coming from a location matches that is being placed in a box. When a SKU from one location is to be placed in multiple boxes the quantity will require editing and multiple labels for each SKU should be printed
For example
In the below, to reflect the fact that the first six items were in a single box, use select (1) besides each, New Box End label from Selection (2) to add them to the panel (3)
To produce the box end SKU Qty barcode labels-click Print (New) - which will output the labels for you to attach to the box.
Use Delete All and Clear Selected to clear the pane and reset the selected buttons. You can then repeat the process for other SKU’s until you have produced the complete set of box labels for the print run.
Tips:
1) If you have multiple boxes that all contain the same SKU you can add the SKU once into the bottom panel and print the label multiple times – if necessary, adjusting the Qty figure in the bottom pane to match the SKU quantity
2) Do not close the stock check layout on your ipad – you will use that in the next step.
Attach the labels to their corresponding boxes and prepare the TEMPORARY LOCATION for moving into a STORAGE LOCATION
It’s now time to relocate all the boxes to a more permanent location in the warehouse. To do this you are going to use the move function - which looks for two location barcodes: -
- the location where items currently are – and the location you are putting them.
To do this :-
1. Identify a warehouse location with sufficient space to hold the boxed-up garments.
2. Physically move the pallet with the boxes to that location – ensure you still have the complete location barcode with you.
3. On your ipad you should still be in the stock location layout for location complete_n. (If you closed it, from ipad dashboard>Stock Check>Device Camera View>scan location barcode complete_n
You will be presented with all the items that are in location complete_n – this should be identical to the contents you boxed up and booked in.
Tip if there are any rogue records listed – use the omit key to remove them before proceeding – and inform your supervisor so that they can be cleared.
4. Select Move Found set to Location which will activate the ipad camera - and scan the location into which you are placing the boxed items.
5. The items will be moved from complete_n to the selected location.
6. Sanity check that all items included in the list have successfully been relocated to the chosen location.
You are done!
